SOS Activation and Emergency Response Responsibility

The Renter acknowledges that the Garmin inReach device includes an SOS function intended for use in genuine emergency situations.

The Renter assumes responsibility for any SOS activation made during the rental period, whether activated by the Renter or by any other person using or having access to the rented device.

The Renter acknowledges that search and rescue services may be publicly funded in some jurisdictions; however, certain services may result in additional costs. The Renter is responsible for any costs, fees, charges, or expenses that may be charged by emergency response providers, ambulance services, medical transportation providers, private helicopter or evacuation services, or other third-party service providers as a result of an SOS activation or emergency response, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

In the event of an accidental SOS activation, the Renter must immediately cancel the SOS request, respond to and communicate with the Garmin Response coordination centre, confirm whether emergency assistance is required, and notify AutoBox YYC as soon as reasonably possible.

The Renter agrees to use the SOS function responsibly and only when emergency assistance is reasonably believed to be required.

AutoBox YYC does not provide search and rescue, emergency response, medical, evacuation, or transportation services and is not responsible for the availability, response time, actions, decisions, outcomes, or charges of Garmin Response, search and rescue organizations, emergency responders, or other third-party service providers.

By placing an order, accepting delivery, picking up, or using the rented Garmin inReach device, the Renter acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to this SOS Activation and Emergency Response Responsibility clause.
